Charlene’s Dream Dominates Grade 3 Galorette Stakes at Pimlico

Charlene’s Dream, a 4-year-old Texas-bred filly, delivered a commanding front-running performance to capture the $150,000 Grade 3 Galorette Stakes at Pimlico Race Course on Saturday, May 17, 2025.

Ridden by Umberto Rispoli for trainer Ed Moger Jr., the daughter of Qurbaan secured her first graded stakes victory in her seasonal debut.

Taking charge from the outset, Charlene’s Dream dictated the pace throughout the 1 1/16-mile turf contest. She set measured fractions of :24.32 for the quarter-mile and :49.37 for the half-mile, maintaining a comfortable lead over her rivals on a course rated “good.”

As the field turned for home, Charlene’s Dream extended her advantage, kicking clear with authority. She crossed the finish line 3 3/4 lengths ahead of Austere, who rallied for second under Irad Ortiz Jr. Ocean Club finished another two lengths back in third. The final time for the race was a swift 1:46.92.

The victory marked the fifth win in eight career starts for Charlene’s Dream, owned by Domeyko Taylor LP. It was a satisfying graded stakes breakthrough for the filly, who had previously won three listed stakes.

Trainer Ed Moger Jr. expressed his confidence in the filly post-race, stating, “I’ve always thought she’s the best filly I’ve ever had. She’s a very, very talented horse.” He noted that while he anticipated more early speed in the race, he was pleased with how Charlene’s Dream handled the lead. “I told Umberto (Rispoli) she does not have to be on the lead, because you can put her anywhere. She’s a really talented horse and I said, ‘if she does get the lead, they aren’t going to catch her.'”

Jockey Umberto Rispoli, who was riding Charlene’s Dream for the first time in a race, credited Moger’s pre-race instructions. “She broke really well out of the gate,” Rispoli said. “I was happy to let her go to the lead. Ed was very confident before the race… He said, ‘Wherever you land, wherever she’s happy on the lead, just stay with her and go with her.’ She was happy on the fence in the lead, and she never gave up. The more ground there was to cover, she kept taking me to the wire.”

Bred in Texas by Eric and Randi Moreau-Sipiere, Charlene’s Dream paid $18.20 to win as one of the longer shots on the board. This victory boosts her career earnings to $294,900.
