Breeders’ Cup Heads to Keeneland in 2026, Belmont Park in 2027

The Breeders’ Cup World Championships are set to make thrilling returns to two iconic venues: Keeneland Race Course in 2026 and Belmont Park in 2027.

This announcement marks a significant moment in horse racing, blending tradition with modern innovation.

Keeneland’s Fourth Hosting: A Blend of Tradition and Modernization

Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, will host the Breeders’ Cup on October 30-31, 2026. This will be Keeneland’s fourth time hosting the event, following previous editions in 2015, 2020, and 2022.

The 2026 event will showcase Keeneland’s ongoing commitment to excellence in Thoroughbred racing.

Keeneland is undergoing a transformative $100+ million capital construction project, the most significant in its 89-year history. Central to this development is the new three-level Paddock Building, which will extend the length of the Saddling Paddock and Walking Ring.

Scheduled to open this fall, the building will offer over 1,000 fans new ticketed experiences, including traditional dining, new bar concepts, and access to a Paddock Lawn.

Additionally, new Jockeys’ Quarters within the building will provide patrons a unique experience as riders walk directly through one of the dining venues before and after each race.

The reconfigured Saddling Paddock aims to provide the safest environment for horses and human participants while giving fans an unmatched view of the pre-race pageantry.

Belmont Park’s Grand Return: A $455 Million Transformation

Belmont Park in Elmont, New York, is set to host the Breeders’ Cup on October 29-30, 2027. This will mark the fifth time Belmont has hosted the event, with previous editions in 1990, 1995, 2001, and 2005.

The 2027 Breeders’ Cup will coincide with the unveiling of Belmont’s extensive $455 million redevelopment, which will transform it into a world-class racing and entertainment destination.

The redevelopment includes a new 300,000-square-foot, five-story main building featuring modern amenities and hospitality offerings.

The project will also unlock the massive Belmont Park infield, providing fans and the community with more green space than ever before.

Additionally, the main dirt track and two turf courses are undergoing complete renovations, with the addition of an all-weather synthetic surface.

The New York Racing Association (NYRA) plans to open the new Belmont Park in September 2026

A Unified Vision for the Future of Racing

The selection of Keeneland and Belmont Park as hosts for the 2026 and 2027 Breeders’ Cup World Championships reflects a unified vision for the future of Thoroughbred racing.

Both venues are investing heavily in infrastructure and fan experience, ensuring that the Breeders’ Cup remains a pinnacle event in the racing calendar.

Drew Fleming, President & CEO of Breeders’ Cup Limited, stated, “The Breeders’ Cup, Keeneland, and Belmont Park share many core values, including a steadfast commitment to excellence and Thoroughbred racing. Enhanced by their latest capital improvements, both venues will set the stage for our thrilling two-day festival celebrating the pinnacle of Thoroughbred racing.”
